Rasnov Citadel: Day trip from Brasov

June 23, 2018 by hollyGS

When researching about Romania, one of the tourist attractions we were most excited to see was Bran Castle. Whilst looking up information about taking a day trip to Bran Castle, we came across quite a few posts suggesting that you combine both a trip to Bran and Rasnov in a single day trip. I am so glad we took the advice of the internet hive mind, and visited Rasnov, because I may have enjoyed Rasnov Citadel even more that Bran […]

BRAN CASTLE: Brasov to Bran

May 29, 2018 by hollyGS

Whilst staying in Brasov, we went on an incredible day trip to Bran Castle and Rasnov Citadel. Bran is located about 45 minutes outside of Brasov, by city bus. The Local Bus Terminal in Brasov is located just outside the Old City. From the local terminal you take bus number 12, although it is simpler to look for signs in the bus window that say “Bran” or “Rasnov” In order to know when to get off the bus in […]

Bucharest to Brasov Romania

May 22, 2018 by hollyGS

For our first full day in Romania we took the train to Brasov Romania, the heart of Transylvania. We started the morning off in Bucharest city centre, and walked rather leisurely across the city towards the main train station, Gara de Nord. We stopped to see everything that look interesting along the way, and had a delicious breakfast at a French cafe. Going by train from Bucharest’s Gara de Nord to Brasov is fairly easy! You can arrive right before […]

Bucharest Romania Pt.1

May 15, 2018 by hollyGS

Romania! This was the place we were most excited to visit for my husband’s first time in Europe! We arrived at the Bucharest airport in the evening after having been awake for almost three days because of cancelled flights. So, needless to say, we were pretty excited to get to our hostel and sleep. We jumped on the 783 bus from Bucharest airport to the city centre. It was rush hour, so the trip took nearly two hours! The ticket […]

Dublin: Short Layovers

April 15, 2018 by hollyGS

We had initially planned on having more than 24 hours in Dublin Ireland to explore, but that time was reduced to 4 hours because  WOW airlines cancelled our flight unexpectedly ( I’ll go into detail about what we think about WOW in a later post…). However, because WOW cancelled our flight, we were able to discover that you can see quite a lot in Dublin with only a few hours to spare. Firstly, it is incredibly easy to get into […]

Top 10: Things to do in BEIJING ,CHINA

February 1, 2018 by hollyGS

I never thought I’d get to explore Asia first hand. As a kid I was completely enthralled by Asian cultures, specifically China. My mom had always been interested in Chinese fabrics, food, music etc. but I assumed that we would be limited to visiting China towns. We found every chance we could to visit China town in Toronto and New York, and that was alright by me. Then, one day I found a flight to Beijing for $800 and I […]

Sofia Bulgaria: Self Guided Walking Tour

January 25, 2018 by hollyGS

Here is the route we took: We had one short evening to explore Sofia Bulgaria, but tried to make the most of our visit. We stayed at a very Central Hostel, Canape Connection (would totally recommend). The friendly man at the hostel gave us so much information about where to eat and walk, so we set off on our quick adventure! Firstly we walked to Vitosha Blvd., a pedestrian street in the centre of the city with many restaurants and […]

BULGARIA: Why you absolutely need to go.

January 18, 2018 by hollyGS

When you think about Europe you undoubtedly think about the iconic cities; Paris, London, Rome etc etc. But, if you are willing and a little bit adventurous you can find some amazing places in Europe that deserve to be at the top of your favourites list. I’ve been meaning to write this post for awhile. Once again I travelled to Europe,  and I totally and completely fell in love with a country I previously knew nothing about, BULGARIA! side note: […]
