Dublin: Short Layovers

April 15, 2018 by hollyGS

We had initially planned on having more than 24 hours in Dublin Ireland to explore, but that time was reduced to 4 hours because  WOW airlines cancelled our flight unexpectedly ( I’ll go into detail about what we think about WOW in a later post…). However, because WOW cancelled our flight, we were able to discover that you can see quite a lot in Dublin with only a few hours to spare. Firstly, it is incredibly easy to get into […]

Top 10: Things to do in BEIJING ,CHINA

February 1, 2018 by hollyGS

I never thought I’d get to explore Asia first hand. As a kid I was completely enthralled by Asian cultures, specifically China. My mom had always been interested in Chinese fabrics, food, music etc. but I assumed that we would be limited to visiting China towns. We found every chance we could to visit China town in Toronto and New York, and that was alright by me. Then, one day I found a flight to Beijing for $800 and I […]

Sofia Bulgaria: Self Guided Walking Tour

January 25, 2018 by hollyGS

Here is the route we took: We had one short evening to explore Sofia Bulgaria, but tried to make the most of our visit. We stayed at a very Central Hostel, Canape Connection (would totally recommend). The friendly man at the hostel gave us so much information about where to eat and walk, so we set off on our quick adventure! Firstly we walked to Vitosha Blvd., a pedestrian street in the centre of the city with many restaurants and […]

BULGARIA: Why you absolutely need to go.

January 18, 2018 by hollyGS

When you think about Europe you undoubtedly think about the iconic cities; Paris, London, Rome etc etc. But, if you are willing and a little bit adventurous you can find some amazing places in Europe that deserve to be at the top of your favourites list. I’ve been meaning to write this post for awhile. Once again I travelled to Europe,  and I totally and completely fell in love with a country I previously knew nothing about, BULGARIA! side note: […]

Chasing Winterfalls : Felker’s Falls

January 11, 2018 by hollyGS

On Christmas Eve I suddenly found myself with the day off work, and what better way to spend the day then hiking in well below freezing temperatures?     We decided to visit Felker’s Falls in Hamilton, located along the Niagara Escarpment. a 22 metre ribbon waterfall.     You can access Felker’s Falls from both the top and bottom fairly easily. To see the top: Take the Red Hill Valley Parkway to the Mud street exit. turn left on […]

Chasing Winterfalls : Albion Falls

January 4, 2018 by hollyGS

To start the New Year off on a different foot, we decided to go on a three hour hike in the -30 degree Celsius weather! What an adventure! We drove to Albion falls in Hamilton Ontario, located along the Niagara Escarpment and part of the Bruce Trail. Albino Falls is a 19 metre cascade falls, although it was frozen when we visited, so not very cascade-y!   You can access Albion Falls From the Red Hill Valley Parkway. Exit at […]

Chasing Waterfalls: Louth Falls

December 30, 2017 by hollyGS

This summer we decided to explore our own backyard, the beautiful Niagara region. Having seen so much of the world, it was a nice change of pace to sit back and enjoy the nature that surrounds us at home (much less time spent in an airplane this way!). Louth Waterfall is located in the Louth Conservation Area in Lincoln Ontario. Louth is a cascade falls situated on the 16 mile creek. You can access this falls from the QEW. -Exit […]

Chasing Waterfalls: Swayze Falls

December 23, 2017 by hollyGS

This summer we decided to explore our own backyard, the beautiful Niagara region. Having seen so much of the world, it was a nice change of pace to sit back and enjoy the nature that surrounds us at home (much less time spent in an airplane this way!). Swayze falls is never the same twice. We’ve visited Swayze falls three times this year, and have seen the falls in it’s full range. Our first visit was magical, the falls were […]
