Dublin Ireland: On foot

April 27, 2019 by hollyGS

Our second day in Dublin we started off the day at an amazing cafe near our hostel, Metro Cafe. It was just above freezing, so we were able to sit outside and enjoy a hearty breakfast and delicious coffee. There was a really amazing mural opposite the cafe. The mural was Halloween themed, which was appropriate because we were visiting Dublin in the week leading up to Halloween. We then headed to Christ Church Cathedral. We had seen people up […]

Dublin Ireland: This time for real!

April 20, 2019 by hollyGS

About a year ago we tried to visit Dublin Ireland on a quick trip from Toronto, but that plan was foiled by WOW airlines (aka the worst airline). If you haven’t already read about our first attempt to see Dublin Ireland, I will link the short video below, or you can read it by clicking here. Our second time in Ireland was much more successful and we finally got to try that quintessential pint of Guinness. We arrived at Dublin […]

Malaysia in Summary

April 13, 2019 by hollyGS

We may have only been in Kuala Lumpur for one week, but we loved every moment in this spectacular country. From the bustling jungle city of Kuala Lumpur to the food and street art wonderland that is Penang. We would love to go back and see a wider variety of places, all over Malaysia. What are your suggestions for places to go and things to do? A definite highlight for me was the KL Park Canopy walk in KL Central […]

The Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

April 7, 2019 by hollyGS

In a massive area surrounding KL Sentral, you can find the Brickfields, aka Little India Kuala Lumpur. The area is incredibly vibrant, filled with colourful shops and archways and the wonderful smells of Indian curries and chai. Beth tried a thali filled with curries and rice and papadum, whilst Jives tried a Paratha and butter paneer dish. It was an incredibly hot day, and we were carrying our backpacks on our backs (before heading to the airport). I decided to […]

Views of the Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur

March 31, 2019 by hollyGS

At the end of our trip to Malaysia, we stayed at an airbnb at the face suites that had arguably the best view of the KL city line, and the Petronas towers. The second best way to see the Petronas Towers was from KLCC Park. We actually got trapped in KLCC park during a downpour on our first day in Malaysia. I will link that video below if you would like to see it.

Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur

March 24, 2019 by hollyGS

Getting to the Batu Caves is super easy now! From KL Sentral you can get on a direct train to the Batu caves. The cost is 2.6MYR and it takes half an hour. When we were in Kuala Lumpur however, the train service was disrupted and we have to take a bus from KL Sentral to a train that took us to the caves. Before we climbed the stairs into the caves, we stopped at the bottom and had a […]

Getting to Monkey Beach, Penang

March 17, 2019 by hollyGS

Firstly, getting to Monkey Beach. From KOMTAR bus station you take bus 101 all the way to the very end. The driver yelled and everyone remaining on the bus exited. The bus will then turn around and head back to Georgetown (this is also how you get back). If you are nervous about missing the stop, we recommend downloading Maps.me and following along on the map as the bus travels. The one way trip cost us 3RMB . From the […]

Self Guided Walking Tour: Penang Malaysia

March 10, 2019 by hollyGS

You really do not need a guide to explore the many amazing murals and interactive pieces of street art in Penang, Malayasia. The old town is a treasure chest of incredible artwork! Below I’ve put together a small walking tour of our favourite “off the beaten path” street art in Georgetown, Penang. Link to our walking Map: https://embed.alpacamaps.com/journey/c4c4ddc5-42cd-11e9-9d43-024bc0398b11/default You really do not need a plan, you just need a large bottle of water and some good walking shoes to explore […]

Penang Hill

February 5, 2019 by hollyGS

From Kek Lok Si we decided to walk to Penang Hill, another iconic spot to visit whilst on Penang Island! The walk was super hot, but only took about 30 minutes. Make sure to lather up on the sun screen and carry water! You can also take the bus from KOMTAR to reach Penang Hill (the cost is approx 3RMB).
