January 22, 2019 by hollyGS

Our first impression of Georgetown was certainly that the street art scene was going to be excellent! On the walk to our hostel we saw so many amazing street art pieces!

Kuala Lumpur: Self Guided Walking Tour

January 8, 2019 by hollyGS

Link to our walking map: https://embed.alpacamaps.com/journey/3627c3e7-42e1-11e9-9d43-024bc0398b11/default We started out our day in Chinatown, checking out all the neighbourhood temples. I have always wanted to see a South India inspired Hindu temple, and the Sri Mahamariamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur is beautifully built in that style. This temple was built in 1873 and is the oldest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur. Also, right across the street from the beautiful Hindu Temple there is a Taoist Temple, Guan Di . There is […]

Arriving in Kuala Lumpur

January 1, 2019 by hollyGS

Hanging out in the Incheon Airport Asia, oh how we love Asia! Nothing compares to having a beer on a plastic stool at the roadside. NOTHING. We were so excited to head back to Malaysia in April 2018! We brought along a special guest, our sister Beth, to show her just how amazing plastic stool beer can be!! We departed Toronto Pearson Air Port at 12:40pm with a 14 hour and 7 hour flight ahead of us! For Beth, this […]

Istanbul Turkey- Self Guided Walking Tour

December 25, 2018 by hollyGS

We set our alarms for 6am, but were awoken by the 5am call to prayer, and decided to stay awake and head out to explore as much of Istanbul as we could see during our 26 hour stop over. Here is our walking tour route (for some reason it wont allow me to embed it):  https://goo.gl/maps/ZMHXzARcChJ2 We started off at Hagia Sophia Mosque and watched as the sun slowly rose over the city. The view is spectacular from this high […]

Arriving in Istanbul Turkey

December 18, 2018 by hollyGS

First thing I should probably mention is that in order to visit Turkey, most people will have to acquire a visa.  As Canadian passport holders, we were able to get our visa issued online ( https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ ). You should check about the requirements for your specific nationality, because when we visited Turkey in 2017, we met an American tourist that told us that American citizens were being temporarily barred from entering Turkey, even if they had acquired a visa. This […]

Athens- Philopappos Hill

December 12, 2018 by hollyGS

Our absolute favourite thing to do when travelling is to wander around and get lost in a city. If there happens to be incredible street art as we get lost in a city, even better. Athens Greece was AMAZING for both getting lost and looking at street art! The best street art we found was in the Plaka and along the walk to Philopappos Hill. We spent our last full day in Athens wandering around the neighbourhoods we hadn’t yet […]

Athens- The Panatheniac Stadium and the Olympics

December 5, 2018 by hollyGS

The Panatheniac stadium is one of the most iconic sights in Athens Greece. It is entirely made of marble and 100% worth the 5 Euro entrance charge. We visited Athen’s Greece in the winter, so the entrance fee may have been a bit cheaper given that it was off season. He had almost the entire stadium to ourselves!! The ticket price includes entrance to an exhibit of Olympic artifacts. The artifacts include posters and Olympic torches used in the celebration […]
