Getting to the Batu Caves is super easy now! From KL Sentral you can get on a direct train to the Batu caves. The cost is 2.6MYR and it takes half an hour. When we were in Kuala Lumpur however, the train service was disrupted and we have to take a bus from KL Sentral to a train that took us to the caves.

Before we climbed the stairs into the caves, we stopped at the bottom and had a delicious vegetarian Indian meal! I am vegetarian, and Jives is predominantly vegetarian, so it is always a great feeling when we find excellent food that we can eat!

The climb into the caves was steep, but not too taxing. Make sure to bring water with you and stop regularly to admire the view!

It took us about half an our to explore the main caves. There is a secondary cave off of the main stairs that you can pay to enter (there is a creepy crawly tour here…but Jives was too scared 😉

Right as you are about to leave to take the train back to Kuala Lumpur, there is another cave to explore off to the right of the station. We called this cave the “it’s a small world cave” after the Disney ride. Can you tell why?

If you are looking for a cheap way to book train tickets in Malaysia (or anywhere in asia) we highly recommend 12goasia. We have used this site many times and love it!!!!
