We arrived in Taipei around 12:30pm, but we couldn’t check into our Airbnb until 3pm, so we decided to check out Chiang Kei Shek memorial hall as we waited.

The accommodation was tricky to get to. We took the MRT blue line, transferred to the brown line (the overland train) and took that to the very end of the line. The last stop on the line is Taipei Zoo station. From here we walked up the road a brief distance and then boarded the Maokong gondola. We took the gondola for one stop, (about 10 minutes) and got off. From there we walked straight up a hill for 15 minutes. We had to follow picture instructions to check ourselves in. We ended up checking in about 10 minutes early.

The accommodation was beautiful, and looked out over the city, with a view to Taipei 101. For the full tour, watch the video above.

We then decided to head back out and see what we could see with the remainder of the day. We took the gondola again down to the MRT and then headed to Taipei Main Station to see if we could find the “nerd area”.
