I woke up at 6:00am and made us coffee with this fancy looking folding coffee filter (I’ll add a picture below). I had never seen something like it before (exploring foreign grocery stores is the best)!! We made eggs with mushroom, and fried up some toast.

After our breakfast, we set out on an adventure to walk to Anping from Tainan city center. Along the way we tried to get wifi in order to figure out how to get to the HSR Tainan station the following day.

It took us about an hour to walk to Anping, along the waterway. We found a park in Anping full of, what I assume was the mascot of Anping, a tiger/ dragon with a sword in his mouth.

We then wandered the old street (Yanping) which was pretty touristy, and ended up at the Anping Old Fort (otherwise named Fort Zeelandia).

The entrance fee was 50NTD or free with the city pass. We explored the fort and climbed the the top of the tower, before sitting down for a cold beer . Fort Zeelandia was built by the Dutch, but then when the Hans kicked the Dutch out, they built Anping Old Fort on the same grounds. There is still one remaining old wall of Fort Zeelandia, covered in tree roots.

Wow what an interesting coffee filter!
