After arriving in Tainan and dropping our bags off at our awesome airbnb, we headed out on an adventure to explore Tainan, the oldest city in Taiwan!! Our first stop was at an old dutch fort, turned Qing Temple, turned Japanese Hospital, called Fort Provintia.

It was 50 NTD each to enter the fort. This wasn’t a very large site and there were lots of tourists, so I felt very overwhelmed. I had quite a panic attack, which you can watch in all it’s horrible glory on our YouTube channel. It’s good to be transparent about these types of things, right?
The fort was really interesting, I really wish there had been less “instagramers”, the experience would have been a lot less anxiety filled.

One really interesting thing about the fort is that instead of using tradition mortar in the construction, they used a mixture of sugar and seashells, which are very easy to collect materials in this region. The fort itself was built in 1653!! Before we left, we stopped at the Fort’s shop and bought two lichi beers which we enjoyed on the grounds, while relaxing from the anxieties of visiting this attraction.
