The Gardens By the Bay, Cloud Garden and Canopy Walk SINGAPORE!!

July 16, 2024 by hollyGS

I woke up at 6:18 like clockwork and had a coffee as I wrote in my book. We went down to breakfast at 8am. Breakfast was slightly different this morning, I had noodles and soft boiled eggs. We set out on our adventure to the Gardens by the Bay at around 9am. We walked to Kallang station and took the train to Bugis station where we transferred and went to the Bay front stop. In the metro Jives played the […]

SINGAPORE’S China Town And Garden’s By the Bay LIGHT SHOW!! (Maxwell Hawker Centre and Carrot Cake!)

July 8, 2024 by hollyGS

We then jumped on the metro to Chinatown, where we explored the main street . The colours were so vibrant and lovely, with the multicoloured buildings and the bougainvillaea flowers. The Mainstreet of Chinatown has a glass covered roof and some really great street art! We stopped at a restaurant called “Fortune Garden Restaurant”. I ordered tomato and scrambled egg, a major Chinese comfort food and Jives got a grated potato spicy and sour dish with chilis and green peppers. […]

Little India, SINGAPORE ! Street Art Walking Tour and Diwali Market

July 2, 2024 by hollyGS

I woke up at about 6:30am and worked on updating my journal about the epic flight adventure. At 8am we headed down to free breakfast at the place next door called “Munch Cafe”. I ordered the vegetarian set with imitation fish and meat on a noodle base. Jives ordered the American breakfast with egg, toast and sausage. We both had coffees. A large group of Australian tourists came in wearing matching shirts and made a HUGE deal about it, I […]

Walking Around The Entire Singapore Bay! Merlion, Marina Bay Sand, Helix Bridge etc…

June 25, 2024 by hollyGS

We first thought we’d walk to a hawker centre nearby, but it was closed on Thursdays. We decided to walk to another hawker centre 15 minutes away, it was closed for construction….so we found a little food centre on Larong Geylang called “Food Haven” and decided to have lunch. We “bravely”, after 10 minutes of staring and being scared, walked up to a stall and ordered two plates of seafood fried rice. The man at the counter gave us a […]

Flying to Singapore!!! My 40th Country (Costs and First Impressions)

June 18, 2024 by hollyGS

I managed to get a few hours of sleep between work and our 4am wake up call. Our flight was at 10:20am from Toronto’s Billy Bishop airport. We both had never flown from this airport before. My mom was to pick us up at 4:30am to take us to the Burlington GO station, but at 4:45 we hadn’t heard from her. I texted her and then called her.. She thought our flight was at 4:00pm and would be there in […]

We Are LEAVING TOKYO || Last Day in Japan, Exploring Shinjuku (Super Stupid Air Canada Flight)

June 10, 2024 by hollyGS

We left our airbnb at about 8am in order to pack the most into our last partial day in Japan. First we took the Yamanote line to Shinjuku station where we dropped our bags off in a locker for the day, right next to the entrance to the Narita Express (train to Narita airport). We saw a really neat tiled Shinjuku mural in the station as we exited. Our mission for the day was to visit three Inari Shrines (fox […]

A CLASSIC TOKYO DAY! Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Nakano Broadway, Akihabara & Shibuya on Saturday Night!

June 4, 2024 by hollyGS

We woke up early to do some more relaxed temple visits to start the day. We decided to walk from our airbnb in Shibuya to Harajuku, not more than 20 minutes away. It was a really pleasant walk, and we found quite a few pedestrian parks and streets. We enter Meiji shrine through the Harajuku entrance. Meiji Shrine is a shrine erected for the emperor Meiji and his empress. Meiji was one of the most beloved emperors of Japan because […]

SECRET GORGE in the Heart of Tokyo Japan !! TODOROKI VALLEY!

May 20, 2024 by hollyGS

We jumped on the metro and took the train to Futako-Tamagawa Station and walked to our next destination from there. Futako-Tamagawa Station is not the closest station to Todoroki Valley, but we had spent so much time on trains coming from northern Japan, so we decided to have a lovely long walk along the Tama River. We walked through a lovely pedestrian street followed by a beautiful traditional garden and then a walk along the river. The last twenty minutes […]

A CAT SHRINE and A SUMO SHRINE In Tokyo Japan!!

May 12, 2024 by hollyGS

We woke up at 8am and decided to see Gotokuji Temple first thing in the day! Walking to Shibuya station there was quite a lot of interesting street art. We walked to Shibuya Station and took the Den-en-toshi line to Sangen-jaya station. We then walked to the streetcar line “Tokyu-Setagaya ”. The streetcar line is really cool, some of the trains are cat themed because of Gotokuji Temple. We tapped our ICU Suica cards and stood at the front of […]
