Crossing The Border From Cambodia to Vietnam by Bus (Visa Requirements For Canadians)

October 16, 2024 by hollyGS

I woke up at 4:30am because there was such a crazy thunderstorm, it was shaking the building. We had two coffees each before heading down to breakfast. During breakfast the power turned off and never did go back on before we left, which made checking out a bit tricky. Thankfully we had packed as our room was very dark to pack in. The lady at the front desk arranged a tuk tuk for us to Sakura Avenue where our bus […]

Visiting the ROYAL PALACE in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. (Last Day in Cambodia)

October 9, 2024 by hollyGS

I woke up and had some coffee on the balcony before going down for breakfast. We had a simpler breakfast this time, eggs and toast. We decided to head to the palace first thing, as it was open 9-11am and then 2-5pm. The palace was about a five minute walk away. We had our most aggressive tuk tuk driver yet approach us on the way to the palace (the east entrance facing the river), but we were right in front […]

What to See and Do in Phnom Penh Cambodia!

October 2, 2024 by hollyGS

I woke up at my usual 5:30-6:00am and made coffee to have on our incredible balcony overlooking the pool. We went down to breakfast by the pool at about 8am. To order breakfast, we were instructed to check off foods on a list. I chose fried egg and fried rice with toast and coffee. Jives ordered the same except he added fruit. It was a lot of food, but it was nice to see Jives have an appetite again. We […]

Siem Reap to Phnom Penh Cambodia (How to take the Local Bus)

September 22, 2024 by hollyGS

I convinced Jives to go down to the pool at around 3pm, but just as we were sitting on the pool side lounges for one minute, it began to rain pretty hard. I was starting to feel pretty cursed. We retreated to our room and sat on the balcony which we hadn’t done yet. After an hour we went down to the pool again, but it started raining immediately. We got in the pool regardless, but only briefly. When we […]

A SOLO DAY Travelling Around Angkor Wat! (Solo Female Travel in Cambodia)

September 15, 2024 by hollyGS

As Jives was trying to sleep and feel a bit more human, I ventured out to find food to eat on my own. I found a vegetarian place to eat nearby after about a fifteen minute walk. It felt weird to be going alone, but I had travelled a lot on my own in the past, I just prefer having a friend with me, not sick in bed all by himself. Poor guy. The place was called “Banlle Vegetarian Restaurant”. […]

It’s Famous For a Reason!!! WAT TA PROHM! (The Overhyped Tomb-Raider-Temple?)

September 3, 2024 by hollyGS

https://youtu.be/eB7jvmgDKN0 Here is a video we made of our visit to Ta Prohm! We wandered around Baphuon temple briefly, which was small but right beside the palace. We were being relentlessly followed by a “tour guide” so we walked through this area pretty quickly before checking out the Elephant Terrace. Sadly Elephant Terrace was under construction, but this used to be the front of the royal palace. One million people used to live in Angkor Wat, making it one of […]

SIEM REAP Cambodia!!! First Impressions (Angkor Wat Tuk-Tuk Tour)

August 16, 2024 by hollyGS

We woke up around 5:30am hungry because we hadn’t had supper the night before, as our hotel kitchen closed at 9:30pm and we arrived at 10:30, too tired to journey out. Jives seemed to be showing signs of having the cold I had had in Singapore, even though I have been better for days and we had been pretty careful. I whats-app-video-chatted my mom and slowed her our room, which was pretty cool. I remember doing the same thing with […]

LEAVING Singapore and Flying to A MYSTERY COUNTRY (We’ve never done this before!)

July 31, 2024 by hollyGS

We arrived at the airport around 12pm and walked to terminal two, as that is where you get the bus to terminal four. We decided to get some lunch at a place called “Heavenly Wang”. We both ordered a rice and fish dish with peanuts and spicy sauce. It was pretty good and came to $15. The sauce was more sweet than spicy though… We then took the  bus to terminal four. Once at terminal four we went through immigration […]

Last Day in Singapore. Visiting a HOTSPRING and MANY Hawker Centres!

July 24, 2024 by hollyGS

The mall attached to the Marina Bay Sands had a river flowing through it with a gondola ride! We then took the metro to Lau Pasat Hawker Centre to have some lunch. The building was a very beautiful iron building, a very British Colonial style. We chose three types of Dim Sum (spinach, chive and vegetable dumplings) and Jives bought a beer. The Dim Sum was $7.80 and the beer was $25. We also got a $10 set with omelette, […]
