Our Last Day in Japan (Radish Shrine, Kappabashi, Godzilla Square and More!)

September 28, 2025 by hollyGS

We had a late start to the day as the night had been so difficult (Jives had a lot of wisdom tooth pain). We walked to a place nearby for breakfast, a sort of comfort dinner. We had to wait for a spot in the stairwell (lined with clocks).  There was a sort of slimy bit of line jumping by a group of Chinese tourists, so we had to wait quite awhile.  The shop was pretty tiny and lined with […]

HEADING BACK TO TOKYO(Godzilla Displays in Shinjuku and Sake Tasting!)

September 4, 2025 by hollyGS

We headed to the train station for 8am (after having an early morning bath in the onsen of course, that should be expected by now). We took the train to Kobe then from Kobe to Tokyo. On the first train we were all seated separately, but as I went to sit, a lady and her son were in my spot.. My anxiety had been pushed a lot that morning, so I didn’t even try to fix the situation, I went […]

Visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial on the 80th Anniversary Of the Atomic Bomb.

September 1, 2025 by hollyGS

I woke up early once again and had a soak in the hotel’s onsen. I then went down to the Kombini (convenience store) and bought some coffees. We had a later start, meeting Harith downstairs in the lobby at about 10am. We then headed to the train station to book tickets on the Shinkansen to Tokyo the following day. We then put some more money on our Suica cards and then headed to the street car station to take the […]

Miyajima Island and the ⛩️ Orange Floating Torii Gate!! (Climbing Mount Misen for the best views)!!

August 17, 2025 by hollyGS

I woke up at 7am and had a bath in the onsen . The onsen was fairly full. There were cupboards to put stuff, but no locks or doors. I deposited my stuff and went in to wash. There were so many bathing stations. The big main indoor bath had jets, which is the first time I have ever seen this. I got in the bath. It was so hot and lovely. I briefly sat in the outdoor bath, but […]

Heading Back to Hiroshima Japan 10 YEARS later!! (It has changed so much!!)

August 3, 2025 by hollyGS

After our lovely stay at the Ryokan, deep in the forest of Kurokawa, we made our way back down to Aso station to continue our journey. I asked the lady at the station to help us book tickets to Hiroshima and she did (as there was no machine at the station to book yourself). She booked us on the Limited Express to Kumamoto and then the Sakura Shinkansen to Hiroshima, arriving at 4:51pm. We would not leave Aso until 1:38pm, […]

Traditional Ryokan Hotspring Hotel – Aso’s Volcanic Onsen Village, Kurokawa!

July 23, 2025 by hollyGS

I woke up early to have a bath before we checked out. Jives also went. The baths in Oita might have been my favourite thus far, as both  the indoor and outdoor baths were huge! I could soak in the water all day, but that is probably not great for your health. We sat and enjoyed a coffee from the vending machine before packing up and heading to the train station at 7am ish for our 8am train to Aso. […]

Japan’s Crazy Hotspring Town, Beppu! The Seven Hells of Beppu, Oita, Kyushu Japan!

July 6, 2025 by hollyGS

The plan was to wake up at 3:15am and have a bath, as my experience the night before in the hotspring hadn’t been great, but when I woke up it was 5:15am, oh no! So I went up to the top floor to have a bath anyway. Three ladies were in the bath, one was older and storming about the bath…the other two were in the outdoor bath sort of. They ladies were sitting on the edge of the bath […]

OITA KYUSHU, Japan’s City Stuck in the 80’s???? (Hidden Gem In Japan)

June 18, 2025 by hollyGS

I woke up with Jives at 3:15 am and we headed to the onsen. I had the bath completely to myself the entire time!! A first on this trip! I washed and soaked in the outdoor bath, then the indoor bath until 4am when I went to the vending machine area to meet up with Jives. We had a beverage together, then headed back to the room for some last minute packing before the train at 8:06am.  Harith woke up […]

Japan’s SUNSHINE COAST🌞! Coastal Caves and a Rabbit Shrine🐇🐰!! (Miyazaki, Kyushu, Japan)

May 25, 2025 by hollyGS

We boarded the Nichinan train at Miyazaki station and took the train to Nichinan station. The train we took left at 11am, as it was a Sunday and there were less trains running. The ride took almost two hours in a super local one car train. We sat in a four chair configuration and put the window down a bit to watch the lovely scenery go by, from bright golden fields full of crops to lush jungle landscapes, reminiscent of […]
