Arriving in Areguling in Southern Lombok, we decided the first order of business was to check out the beach and beautiful cove!

We walked down to the waterfront through an incredibly rural village, stopping for cows and chickens to cross the road in front of us. The walk took about twenty minutes and we were able to put our toes in the warm ocean water for the first time in Indonesia.

We explored the beach front and walked to the end of the beach where we decided to go for a swim. The water was so warm and there were lots of rocks and coral. I wish I had brought my snorkel down. It suddenly looked like rain so we hurried back up to our hotel, coming across the same cows crossing the road ( a cow traffic jam).

Later we ventured back to the beach after the rain and explored some more as the tide went out (around 5pm). It is incredible just how far the water recedes during the low tide, almost emptying the entire bay. It’s also remarkable just how quickly the tide moves back in, it could be quite risky to take a nap on this beach.

It was fun scaling the rocks that had been previously underwater and examining the coral and seashells as well as an army of bright pink crabs. We set off back to our hotel as the sun was setting and encountered the most beautiful pink sunset behind the mountains and the palm trees. We got back to our hotel and played our pictionary game until we decided to order food to eat, two veggie currys. The currys were delicious, so good, like some of the best food we have had on the entire trip. We washed them down with two large Bintang beers. We went to bed around 9pm after sitting on our porch for quite awhile.
